Jeff & All,

Absolutely right and as a represantative of the largest ISP Association in the world (www.euroispa.org) and member of the ISPCP within ICANN I would like to stress the role of ISPs and Infrastructure Providers in the business sector as well.

Those companies are in a direct relationship to private clients, administration and almost the whole business sectors worldwide. Their business is constitutional for a free, stable and secure internet and I also do see the need for consideration.

Best

Too often when we are talking about Internet governance or just governance in general, we talk about business and civil society. Sometimes technical is also including. But many of the infrastructure providers, including registries (ccTLDs and gTLDs), registrars, DNS providers and ISPs are left out of the mix. Businesses rarely consider us part of their clique (even though we are businesses); we are not civil society; we COULD be "technical", but that is usually reserved for the standards bodies (IETF, W3C, etc) and rarely include us. Those that actually operate the registry, DNS and registrar services are a very different animal than those that design the protocols, etc.

Incidentally, I am not asking that I personally be included, but that some consideration is given. We are part of the glue that keeps this ecosystem together.
