[discuss] role of 1-Net in organization

The wait has been a combination of frustrating and never-ending.  We seem to be making progress, but halving our distance to the objective each time, with no prospect of actually getting there.  In the interim, time marches on and the meeting date looms ever closer.  

The problem is that there have been posts by some on this list indicating that some stakeholders do not see 1Net as that vehicle.  I would not argue with that conclusion if it was a group consensus or even a group impasse, but for those of us who are trying to decide how best to coordinate our work, we need to know whether there is possible consensus on the role of 1Net, if not, then it's an interesting discussion group, but we work our coordination efforts through other channels.  Stakeholder buy in cannot be demonstrated solely from within an executive committee who have presumably provided buy in from their participation.

CGI already plays a local role in coordination which is why I thought their views on the possible role of 1-Net would also be informative.  Similarly, any clarity or insight on the possible role of 1-Net as perceived by the Brazilian government would also be of interest. While this list has take a life of its own, it was generated by some discussions engaged in during the IGF in Baku at the instigation of ICANN and some of the I*s, any thoughts from those perspectives would also be welcome.

While I understand the interest in the breadth of topics on this list, there are some nearer-term objectives which have be dealt with in a more expedited timeframe and I just wanted to pose the question in a separate discussion thread of whether this list has a role to play, and if so what is it?

I guess we need to wait for the Executive Multistakeholder Committee to form and get organized.

According to Carlos:

"The EMC will be responsible for organizing the event, including the discussion and implementation of the agenda, and the selection of the participants and the various stakeholders' proposals. The crucial part of the preparation process resides here, in close coordination with the Logistics Committee, so people selected for the EMC ought to make themselves readily available for this challenge."

Taking a cue from bullet 2... As a separate thread, I was hoping we could discuss what role 1-Net might play in helping to organize the Brazil meeting as a separate thread.  This is meant to be a dialog on the possible role, not how to populate committees or organize stakeholders.  The participation of colleagues from CGI would be very useful in this discussion as well.
