Firstly, I would like to thank Adiel for the wonderful work that he has undertaken to date especially given the nature of the terrain when 1 net first started. Kudos Adiel, your work and the team behind you is appreciated.

Secondly, thank you Paul and APNIC for stepping up to volunteer to convene and provide a platform for discussion. Glad that there is clarification about the role of 1 Net as a supplementary platform for dialogue to strengthen existing internet governance machinery noting that there multiple foras where these occurs, globally, regionally and nationally depending on how one views internet governance. However, for 1 net purposes it is safe to assume that discussions are rallied around global internet governance thematic areas which from time to time have linkages to domestic jurisdictions.

Perhaps one area that the 1 Net could start the dialogue on is to either through the MAG or independently request that there is a review of the WGIG 2005 Report to tease out current issues. The Working Group should have representatives from the different regions and stakeholders.

In the Pacific, which includes 27 countries and territories, we are currently preparing Terms of Reference for the Review of the FAIDP which is the Regional Strategy for ICT which will canvas Internet Governance and Critical Internet Resources. One the review is completed and a new regional Strategy and Framework drafted, we will then convene the Regional ICT Ministers meeting following adoption by CROP Council heads. There will be a public consultation phase involving all stakeholders.
