Good question and that is why Era of contract needs to end. As i alluded to
in the past, the need for a contract was clear and the purpose has been
achieved; ICANN has grown from being a toddler to a young adult, now it can
grow on its own.

What is required is for the community to draft xyz guidelines, ICANN
management should agree to abide by those xyz guideline and if for some
reason, ICANN does not abide by them, the community initiate a resolution
abc that states how to resolve the issue at hand. The resolution process
abc can be implemented by an independent consortium of interest group

Now i wish i had known ICANN so well that i could put those thoughts on
paper as a proposal, nevertheless i will tag along with the historian to
contribute to whatever they come up with. ;)

Cheers!
