Please note that ICANN is not entitled (by far) to cover the entire 
DNS spectrum, that the DNS does not cover the entire name space, and 
that the RSS is only one of the ways to convey the INTERNIC based 
resolution capacity to users. For a long period of time users had the 
feeling that ICANN was a necessity by scarcity. The Snowden episode 
has in part freed people from this feeling. There will therefore be 
most probably some innovation in the namespace servicing in the 
coming months/years with wider coverages and therefore a need for 
wider information than the IETF / ICANN information. Russ Housley has 
proposed that RFC 2860 serves as a model for other SDOs dealing with 
ICANN. This is a reasonable proposition. It should also serves as a 
basis for other Referential systems supporting IETF/IANA information 
and other sources.

IMHO the ICANN solution of an AoC is the correct approach for every 
information repository/network information center.
