valid points....I had just rewritten it but will go back and try 
something a bit different.  I do agree with Niels that the old line is 
lame.
How about
The Internet is here to stay.  The Internet Governance Forum 2014, with 
2500 gathered in Istanbul and many more participating remotely, once 
again demonstrated the eagerness there is to connect across continents 
and discuss the Internet's many governance challenges.  In response to 
broad multi-stakeholder support....etc
