The problem with such corporate boilerplate is in how it is used by the
powerful. I have faced the same issues in various roles myself. Given the
need for profound changes in ICANN's culture, perhaps the change to legal
department route posited by Kieran really would be the best.

We ought to be able to build a bylaws and cultural framework that mean that
ICANN doesn't resort to such legal appeals. I don't think it is likely the
problem is with California law, which is pretty liberal and boilerplate.
