Comcast are not part of IETF decision making, with or without
sponsorship. Nor are they "consulted" on the work of the IETF.

People employed by them are as welcome as people employed by
anyone or no-one to participate in the actual work of the IETF,
all of which is publicly archived in mailing lists.

There are criticisms to make of the IETF setup but frankly
I reckon those trying to do that in this thread are doing a
pretty bad job of it by continually demonstrating ignorance of
issues that are critical to this particular discussion.
