Marilyn; agree this would indeed be useful; these Principles, which I think still have real relevance, are clearly not being upheld by all who signed up to them;

So, let's create a useful topic. Here is one from me.

I am very interested in a NETMUNDIAL + review, perhaps as a main session at IGF2019, or a 3 hour Day Zero event, or a +Day if necessary to the IGF2019. I favor a 3 -4 hour special session during the IGF2019.

-how have the principles been adopted?

-how to they apply to the latest calls to action by French Prez and UN SecGen?

-are they still currently applicable?

Patrick, hi - Maybe we're the last survivors of this group. Wishing you a fabulous new year too! Erika

Hi everyone. I have a proud accomplishment to announce: I'm happy to be the first to welcome everyone to the 1net.org [eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com] listserv discussion of 2019. Not that there will be much more excitement than 2018. I'm frankly not sanguine that there's going to be a breakout of discussion, but I just-can't-remove-myself-from-the-list. Who has two thumbs and fomo? This guy here. :)

For nostalgic benefit, here's the first email that I have in my inbox from 1net.org [eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com].

Happy 2019 to fellow 1net lurkers. :)

Indeed it is.

I am intrigued by Fadi's combination of accountability mechanisms with the duty of stewardship - the latter is far broader with the former, in my opinion.

I am also surprised by the presentation of this as a "consultation" process. The USG press release asks ICANN to "convene global stakeholders to develop a proposal to transition the current role played by NTIA in the coordination of the Internet's domain name system."

To arrogate the leadership of that to ICANN such that it consults the community rather than doing what is asked seems to me to pose risks both to ICANN itself, and to the prospects of a successful transition plan actually being developed.

Let's see how this panel proceeds..
